Find Inspiration Through a Piano Prodigy
One of my favorite shows to watch is Ellen Degeneres and lately she’s been having some phenomenal musical artists come on to perform. Once in awhile Ellen will bring on a child prodigy who plays piano. Here’s an example of a piano genius named Chelsea…
Watching this video has truly inspired me and makes me want to take up piano lessons again! I recently purchased a CD to reacquaint myself with classical music and the sound of the piano. I even went on a hunt for free piano lessons…Don’t have a piano yet, but will start practicing on my boyfriend’s keyboard

CD and DVD Media by Taiyo Yuden
Although most music nowadays is being downloaded to mp3 players and much of the technology in the music industry is being upgraded, I still rely on CDs for backup. I still have a little boom box that plays CDs
So, I’m always on the lookout for good deals on blank CDs and came across this company called Taiyo Yuden that offers CD and DVD media. Taiyo Yuden is made by the company that invented the CD-R disc. Their discs are supposed to be the cream of the crop when it comes to quality. Find out if you have a real or fake Taiyo Yuden product.
Things You Should Know About the Music Business
It’s no secret that the music industry is changing. The internet has completely changed how we get our music and videos. The closing of many record stores is evidence of that. I was in a store the other day and walked around the electronics department. Everyone was huddled around the mp3 players and the cell phone sections. Did I see anybody looking at CDs? I think one or two people at the most.
So, when I read Seth Godin’s post about “Music Lessons“, it was a reminder of why I started this blog (website coming soon!) in the first place. I wanted to create a sense of community and bring musical artists and those who love music together. I wanted to change how people get their information. The big record labels shouldn’t have all the power in dictating how we get our music and musicians should no longer be slaves to those big labels.
If you’re a musician or band and want some ideas on how to market yourselves, read Seth Godin’s post. Here’s a key piece of advice from Godin’s post I’d like to point out:
“Keep your costs low and go with your instincts, even when everyone says you’re wrong. Do a great job, not a perfect one. Bring things to market, the right market, and let them find their audience.”

My Latest Favorite: Guitar Hero
For all you air-guitarists out there who still haven’t heard of “Guitar Hero“, you’ll find this guitar/video version of karaoke to be the best thing invented - at least I think so! When my best friend’s daughter introduced me to this a month ago, I knew that if I didn’t put the guitar down after the first couple go-arounds, I was going to end up hogging the guitar all night!
Here’s an 8-year-old who is having the time of his life playing Guitar Hero…
I think it’s a great way to introduce kids to all kinds of music from “back in the day”. My friend’s daughter knows who Pat Benatar is now! Oh, and of course, Guitar Hero is something for the adults to enjoy as well! Buy Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle at Amazon.com
