Create Your Own Music With Finale

Posted in Reviews, Resources by NoSongUnsung on the February 29th, 2008

Back in the day if you wanted to create quality, professional sounding music, you had to dish out hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to a studio that would make the music for you. Even creating your own sheet music was a process. However, with all the technology and computers available today, you can have your own music notation program. If you’ve always dreamed of being a songwriter, you can now create music and music CDs easily and seamlessly with music software.

Finale HomepageFinale is a company that offers several products that will suit your music notation needs:

  • Finale 2008 - provides full MIDI capabilities
  • Finale Allegro - a low-cost alternative to Finale 2008 that leaves out the detailed options
  • PrintMusic- create sheet music up to 24 staves
  • SongWriter - create and print quality sheet music
  • NotePad - free notation software where users can click notes onto staves
  • Viewer - free software that lets you view, play, transpose, and print digital sheet music
  • The Finale website has many resources and a support forum to help you with the software if you need it.

    Did you know that Finale was used in Academy Award®-winning films such as:
    * Ratatouille
    * Michael Clayton
    * Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
    * Elizabeth: The Golden Age
    * The Golden Compass

    See Neil Young in the UK

    Posted in Oldies But Goodies, Resources by NoSongUnsung on the February 24th, 2008

    Neil YoungIf there is one artist who has made a musical impact in this world, it is the legendary Neil Young. Watching Neil Young in action is quite extraordinary. He plays the harmonica, piano, and guitar with ease and mesmorizes audiences in his own style of music. Some call it rock, others say it’s folklore - whatever you call it, it fills your soul and makes you forget about all the problems of the world. As a “flower child” of the 70’s and 80’s, this is the kind of music I appreciate. You don’t find too much of it nowadays.

    For all you Neil Young fans out there, he will be in the UK all next month and will be performing at the Playhouse Theatre in Edinburgh, the Apollo Hammersmith in London and the Manchester Apollo in Manchester. You’ll hear songs from his latest album, Chrome Dreams II, and of course, you’ll get your fill of classics that made Neil Young the genius that he is. Buy Neil Young Tickets.

    You can find other concert tickets UK over at Viagogo. Viagogo is a ticket hub that not only sells concert tickets, you can also buy or sell sports tickets and arts and theater tickets.

    For the girls, Ramiele Malubay put on an excellent performance. She definitely has star quality. Here’s a clip of her performing “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me“…

    Corporate Events: One Way to Make Money as a Musician

    Posted in Resources by NoSongUnsung on the February 12th, 2008

     Performing At Corporate Event In WailukuThere are many ways for music artists to make money other than selling their music. Here at No Song Unsung we’re dedicated to helping artists get more exposure for their music and provide resources and ideas on ways to make more money. One way to make money is getting involved in corporate entertainment.

    I know a lady who puts together corporate events and it dawned on me that this would be a great venue for bands or musicians to tap into. From what I hear corporate parties are huge money-makers and if you can get just one gig, most likely it will lead to other private events like birthday parties or weddings.

    Who says you have to attend a school of arts and education to make big money in the world of entertainment?

    What other ways have you made money as a musician? Share your thoughts by leaving a comment!
