New Amerykah: Taking Us To a New Level

Apple iTunesFrom the moment I first heard Erykah Badu’s unique voice over ten years ago, I was inspired. Her music came at a time when I was on my own soul journey and everything she said resonated with me - physically, mentally, and spiritually. Lyrics told stories of love, heart break, and life struggles. Badu’s music isn’t just music, it’s poetry in motion. It’s music that challenges you to dig a little deeper and go beyond the superficial.

Erykah Badu takes us to another level with her latest album New Amerykah. It’s a fluid mix of funk, spoken word, and head-boppin’ beats that embodies “Baduism”. The world may be on Erykah’s shoulders which shows me that understands the concept that we’re all as one…

Let’s go back a little bit and revisit one of my favorite songs, a collaboration of The Roots and Erykah Badu titled “You Got Me

Hey! Thanks for the link. I love “When Things Fall Apart” and agree that Erykah’s music does indeed challenge us to look beyond the meaning on the surface.

    Good review. :D
