Recommended Music Blog: What Does This Song Mean To Me
Many music blogs talk about the latest happenings going on in the music world - which is fine - but sometimes you just want to read something different. Today I came across What Does This Song Mean To Me, a blog that talks about music from a personal perspective.
Here’s what Kelly, the blogger behind What Does This Song Means To Me says about music:
“What I find interesting is how a song’s meaning can evolve as you grow
older. Life experiences can shape how you listen to a song. Maybe a
song that I have always enjoyed means a lot more now because I relate
to it differently now. Music can completely change my mood, take me
back in time and enrich my life.”
I especially like Kelly’s post, 5 Musical Moments That Make Me Feel Old. I have to say that I can relate to every one of those moments - especially #1 and #2. I sometimes listen to the classic rock stations and cringe when I hear songs from the late 80’s or 90’s being labeled as “classic”. As I said in my comment on Kelly’s post, I feel old when I talk about having albums on tapes and my friend’s daughters ask me, “What are tapes, Auntie?”
Inspiring Music Blog: The Weekly Songcast

Fellow music lover and blogger, Rob Cooke, recently started a new blog called The Weekly Songcast where he shares songs that he’s produced and some of his own personal journeys in what we call “music land”. Truly inspirational!
Rob has produced a melody for us which we’ll share in the next couple weeks. It’s going to accompany an affirmations video which we’ll be uploading to YouTube soon. Stay tuned!
New Music Blog Discovery: New Age Vibe
As you may or may not know, I currently write for a blog network called Know More Media. Since Know More Media’s announcement about the partnership with b5Media, I’ve been spending some time checking out the different blogs in the b5Media network - especially the music blogs - and there are many of them!
I already have one blog of theirs in my blogroll (a.k.a “The Associates” in the sidebar), Hippie Sounds. However, one blog in particular has caught my attention today: New Age Vibe.
It wasn’t until this year that I really paid any attention to New Age music. I couldn’t tell you names of artists in the genre, but all I know is that it’s great music to listen to when I’m meditating or just want to relax. Well, the only artist name that comes to mind now is Enya who sang that song, Only Time. Watch the video below…
Stumbling Upon Other Music Blogs
As a lover of music, I figured I should be out discovering other blogs to find out what other music bloggers are talking about these days…
I stumbled upon the OpenCulture blog where they have listed 25 music blogs! That sure made my life so much easier. I scanned the list and found these interesting posts and blogs:
- Thanks to SOULcrates for sharing this download of the day. Love it!
- If you’re a lover of jazz like I am, then you’ll discover a boat load of jazz blogs over at All About Jazz
- Jake Brown of Glorious Noise muses on Barry Manilow being mellow. Yeah, when has the man not been mellow?
- My Old Kentucky Blog is an interesting compilation of music and pop culture, news, and events
Learn To Play the Guitar With Chad Dukes
When I was young I learned to play the piano, flute, saxophone and clarinet, but one instrument I’ve always wanted to learn was the guitar…
Well, today I stumbled upon Chad Dukes’ Music and Guitar blog - so if you’re looking around for guitar lessons, check out Chad’s blog!
Here’s what Chad has to say about his blog:
“While this is a blog, you would be better to think of it as an ever evolving encyclopedia of musical and guitar related information. Don’t just look at whats on the front page, but also dig into the back pages. Its there that you will find tons of useful insights into music and guitar playing.”
