Inspiring Musical Artist: Creek

Posted in Music Stars in the Making by NoSongUnsung on the November 14th, 2008

CreekWhen I interviewed Rob Cooke a couple months ago on BlogTalkRadio (see my previous post: Exclusive Interview With Rob Cooke of WeeklySongCast.com), there was a listener who participated in the chat room during the show who goes by the name “Creek”.

Creek is a musician currently based in Seattle, Washington and Creek, if you’re reading this, Thank you for listening and connecting with us!

Like many musical artists, Creek has been using the internet to spread the word about his music. For instance, he has his own page over at OurStage.com - a website where you can listen to up-and-coming artists from around the world. OurStage also has a marketplace where you can upload your information and connect with venues. Find your next gig online!

One of my favorite songs by Creek is the one titled “Forever”. It has a Contemporary/Soft Rock feel to it that reminds me of many songs from the 80’s that I love.

Find Inspiration Through a Piano Prodigy

Posted in Inspiration, Music Stars in the Making, Videos, Resources by NoSongUnsung on the January 31st, 2008

One of my favorite shows to watch is Ellen Degeneres and lately she’s been having some phenomenal musical artists come on to perform. Once in awhile Ellen will bring on a child prodigy who plays piano. Here’s an example of a piano genius named Chelsea

Watching this video has truly inspired me and makes me want to take up piano lessons again! I recently purchased a CD to reacquaint myself with classical music and the sound of the piano. I even went on a hunt for free piano lessons…Don’t have a piano yet, but will start practicing on my boyfriend’s keyboard ;)

Here’s a great piano blog: The Collaborative Piano Blog

Inspiring Singer: Paul Potts

Posted in Inspiration, Music Stars in the Making by NoSongUnsung on the October 19th, 2007

Paul PottsIf you watched America’s Got Talent this past summer, you may be familiar with a man named Paul Potts who was actually the winner of Britain’s Got Talent. I have never paid much attention to opera music and was never really moved by it until I heard Paul Potts sing. I seriously get chills and tears well up whenever I hear him sing…

Paul Potts is a perfect example of someone who overcame his insecurities and just went for the gusto. In an interview with him that I saw on TV (I believe it was Ellen Degeneres’ show), he said that he was hesitant about auditioning for the show, so he ended up just flipping a coin to see whether or not he would go. What an inspiration he is to those of us who don’t think we have the musical talent or we aren’t “good enough”. Just go for it!!

Listen to the mp3 version of “Nessun Dorma” which means ‘None Shall Sleep’ - the song that made Paul Potts a superstar ;)

Buy Paul Potts’ album, One Chance (With Bonus Tracks)

Music Lyrics That Inspire

What type of music inspires you?Music-that-Inspires.jpg

The other night I was watching the show, America’s Got Talent, and saw one of the four final contestants, Julienne Irwin, sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. I couldn’t believe how much that song touched my heart. If that isn’t an inspirational song, I don’t know what is!

Here are the lyrics…

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There’s a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.

Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can’t I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can’t I?

She did a spectacular job singing this song. Makes me wanna go out and get some singing lessons! Watch Julienne Irwin’s performance

Rising Rap Star: Bentley Green

Posted in Music Stars in the Making by NoSongUnsung on the May 1st, 2007

Bentley Green.jpgI just finished watching the Ellen DeGeneres show and found out about this little boy who was definitely born to rap! His name is Bentley Green and he’s the cutest rapper that I’ve ever seen ;) I still have yet to figure out how to embed a YouTube video in Wordpress, so you’ll have to go to YouTube to watch this video he did about Ellen…And since I love basketball, I’ll share this song he did for the Dallas Mavericks as well!

It’s amazing how easy it is to be discovered now! Heck, who needs an agent if you got YouTube! By the way, if you need a dancer, check out my friend’s niece Jaylyn who loves to dance…and sing!
