The Many Facets of Erykah Badu

Monday, December 29th, 2008 |

Earlier this year I shared my thoughts about Erykah Badu and how her music has inspired me over the years. I just love her style of music.

Well, today as I was hanging around MySpace, I noticed that she had uploaded one of her new videos called “Honey“. Check it out…

“Honey”, The Official Video by Erykah Badu

Erykah Badu in Concert Sep 2008I really like this video because we get to see the many sides of Erykah Badu – not to mention that it’s just entertaining. Erykah Badu does have a quirky, crazy side that I admire. She doesn’t take life too seriously. You can tell by the way she expresses herself through all her different hairstyles. That’s an artist for ya’!

New Amerykah: Taking Us To a New Level

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 |

Apple iTunesFrom the moment I first heard Erykah Badu’s unique voice over ten years ago, I was inspired. Her music came at a time when I was on my own soul journey and everything she said resonated with me – physically, mentally, and spiritually. Lyrics told stories of love, heart break, and life struggles. Badu’s music isn’t just music, it’s poetry in motion. It’s music that challenges you to dig a little deeper and go beyond the superficial.

Erykah Badu takes us to another level with her latest album New Amerykah. It’s a fluid mix of funk, spoken word, and head-boppin’ beats that embodies “Baduism”. The world may be on Erykah’s shoulders which shows me that understands the concept that we’re all as one…

Let’s go back a little bit and revisit one of my favorite songs, a collaboration of The Roots and Erykah Badu titled “You Got Me

Beyonce Shows Love To Her Fans in “The Experience”

Thursday, December 6th, 2007 |

Apple iTunesWho loves her fans? Beyonce sure does. On the Tyra Banks show the other day, she took us on a tour of what goes on behind the scenes during a Beyonce tour. Here are a couple reasons why I say that Beyonce loves her fans:

* Before a show Beyonce will go out to meet with about 100+ of concert attendees. Not too many singers make the time to hang out with adoring fans. The fans who made them famous, mind you!

* Beyonce teamed up with Loreal to provide this area where fans can get their hair and makeup done before the show. No running around town to get ready – get jazzed up right there on the spot!

We’re happy to see that Beyonce’s Irreplaceable is being nominated for Record of the Year for the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. See the list of nominees.

Alicia Keys: Another Stellar Single

Sunday, September 30th, 2007 |

The latest favorite from Alicia Keys, is her new single, No One. If you watched the VMA’s a few weeks ago, you would have seen her perform this song and needless to say, it was a spectacular performance, as all Alicia Keys’ performances are.

Alicia always sings songs of love, hope, and positive things. She’s definitely one of those singers that will stand the test of time. I would put her up there with Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, and all those other talented artists with phenomenal voices. Alicia doesn’t have to do anything but sing to get attention. She’s definitely a good role model for young women out there.

Check out the video for No One below…
